Bad times produce good music. 2023 was a prime example of this. One great album followed the next. Who is on the throne after 12 months and why? Evil Blizzard with their album gnawed at my auditory coils like rats at leftover food and ate so deeply into my soul that they even dethroned my interim winner Baroness. 'Rotting In The Belly Of the Whale' is an irresistible Psych Prog Glam Doom Punk masterpiece that eats up your heart, no matter where you put the needle, whether on the almost one-minute 'Tiny People', the glam punk hit 'Rotting In The Belly Of The Whale', the ear worm 'All You Bad, Bad People' or the bleak and atmospheric 'Darkness'.

But not only my number one is a winner, all 40 albums are such a great pieces of art and are all worth listening to. My greatest respect to all the wonderful artists and musicians who produce such masterpieces!
