Realmbuilder - Summon The Stone Throwers [2010]

Are you an incurable fan of Cirith Ungol and Manilla Road? Do you like Epic Metal in its most eccentric form? If you answer with 'Yes' twice like me, then I have fished a pearl out of the deep sea of waste and unimportant Metal music for you. I had to open many oysters, in which there were no real treasures, until I found this wonderful, perfectly shaped pearl of Doom laden Epic Metal. Call me a pearl-fisher from now on. Hopefully I don't cast pearls before swine when I sing hymns about this one-of-a-kind real gem.

The sound is fantastic in its old school style. Czar, singer and drummer, and his comrades-in-arms, J.H. Halberd, rhythm guitar and bass guitar and harmony vocals, and axe swinger Brian Koenig at the lead guitar, create an artwork with mighty guitar riffs, majestic choral singing and stomping rhythm in best NWoBHM tradition and not deniable Doom Metal roots, which is very seldom nowadays. Realmbuilder from New York City may be smiled at by many because of their apparently naive and Manowar like Metal based on Ron E. Howard's Sword & Sorcery novels, but this album is in my good graces. Listening to 'Summon The Stone Throwers' is fun at its highest entertainment level.

Realmbuilder tackle the work in attending to details, e.g. the elaborated choral singing, side noise including saber rattling, and which culminates in the trumpet horns in the final track 'The tarnished Crown'. Dive into the world of Realmbuilder, be enchanted by the magic of their music and throw yourself into the macabre atmosphere, which gives you goosebumps. You won't regret it!

Warning to all mainstream listeners: Hands off!

I have been playing Magic The Gathering since I was a preteen and even I think this is the hugest turd in the toilet of music out right now. I hope this is never reproduced en mass or even through the reproduction of the bloodlines of those in the band.

The last comment is so unfortunate. This band is unique and original.

For how much the band is hyped as sounding like Manilla Road and Cirith Ungol, this band's sound has NOTHING to do with those bands! I find it alarming that people hold so dearly to a band's influences.

Their style is minimalist and quaint, yet complex and powerful at the same time. You can call it metal, but it strays from the traditional fabric of metal that emerged as 'fantasy metal' in the 80's.

New York's Realmbuilder is a force to be reckoned with.
