Horisont - Time Warriors

'Time Warriors' by Horisont was one of the most anticipated album by me in 2013 after the release of their masterpiece 'Second Assault', which entered rank #13 in my top album list of 2012. My expectations went to sky high and I was champing at the bit to listen to this album. But things never turn out the way you expect.

Where the predecessor 'Second Assault' came up with a more harsh and rough around the edges sound, supplemented with psychedelic excursions, Horisont shift down a gear on 'Time Warriors'.

The song writing talent is still in place and the target audience of 'Time Warriors' is obvious.
Horisont pattern theirselves a little bit to much on Graveyard without achieving their class entirely. The congenial five man band from Sweden offer the whole gamut, which is expected by the gentle retro rock fan, from the straightforward classic hard rock song through to the ballad.

'Time Warriors' is to 'Second Assault' as 'Lights Out' is to 'Hisingen Blues' by Graveyard.
The boisterous sound, the involved compositions, and the exuberant joy of playing are gone and displaced by a more reputable and dignified result. 'Time Warriors' sounds like wrapped up in cotton wool but also more vintage with an almost perfect tube amp sound in proper style, which creates a warm glow in the heart of the lsitener.

Despite of the mild ciriticism 'Time Warriors' is anything but a disappointment and I rate
it as a "buy". (8/10)
